Reliable affiliate sales information

If I need to send a banner to an affiliate sales thing and it should have embedded code, how do I do that?
I'm using Photoshop and I'm not an idiot, but I'm not familiar with this affiliate stuff and I've never embedded code into a banner. I've always dealt with one site at a time made the banner, uploaded it, gave it a link, period.
