Starting a freelance web design business?
I'm going to be traveling for a 2 3 years, only living in one location for a maximum of 6 months. I'm changing my career route and want to teach myself the ins and outs of freelance web design. Now I currently run several websites, and have built about 4 or 5. I know my way around Wordpress UI, and Basics of Drupal 6 7. Fluent in HTML, decent CSS, For a short time I was a professional photo editor retoucher so I have Photoshop CS3, 3 ext, 4, 5 so I know my way around Photoshop CameraRAW bridgeI plan on putting out extra money to replace my current desktop with a laptop and figure I will get a Mac Pro so that I can use it for business as well. My main question is, What programs pieces of technology could you web designers NOT live without? What do you use on a weekly monthly basis?Tablets?Photoshop?Illustrator?I want the ability to do simple logos if clients want, I have professional photography equipment so photoshop will be mainly used for editing pictures on website, blogs, etc...What do I need to be able to tackle most anything thrown at me? And then the last question, I'm going to teach myself, any reccomended books websites methods to learn?Thank you guys girls so much Have a nice day
Starting freelance web design?
I plan to start doing web design business soon . My experience in this field is beginner to intermediate at the most. I was wondering how I can get customers? I plan to use craiglist to advertise myself soon. If anyone knows a better way to advertise myself please tell me. Since my skills are at the lower end, I will charge less compared to those more skilled counterparts. Of course no server side programmings involved. I also plan to charge my clients by custom template designs and pages. However, I have looked to other people's questions on this topic, and many have answered saying that freelance web designers should be paid by hours. I don't know how thats possible considering I'm doing this business over the internet. If anyone can answer this, please enlighten me. Also, Is paypal a fine way to get paid? I don't want customers to reverse payment or whatsoever after receivng their website. How do you prevent this problem? Any links on how to start this busines would be appreciated.

How much should I charge per hour for freelance web design?
I've been working as a designer for two years and I have a BFA in Graphic Design. I've got a full time job as a designer, but I pick up some freelance stuff. How much should I charge the client after the initial work has been done and they are looking for additional hours? I was thinking $30 $40 because my time is tight.Unfortunately people get very scared at paying $80 per hour. I don't necessarily need working advice, just need to know how much I should charge.I'm currently writing a proposal for a client. There are 3 packages ranging in skill.1. $800.00 landing page2. $1500.00 basic site3. $2500.00 advanced dynamic siteClients love to ask for additional work after its done. How much per hour should I charge?

Freelance web design work?
My sister in law uses Adobe Fireworks to design web pages for a company. That's all she does. The company she works for then turns her desing into an actual website. That's what I am looking for. A company that I can just do the designs and then they turn it into a site. Does anyone know of a place online that does this?I'm really creative but I have no clue how to turn the design into a functioning website. All I want to do is design.Give me the subject of the design and do one up.
