Are there any freelance web designers that are doing really well right now?
My husband has been doing web design for over 10 years now. He's very very good, creative, reliable, fast and knowledgeable in so many ways... I have started working on pulling in clients and I'm really hopeful with what I've found so far. He's not feeling so upbeat about it. He's always worked for someone else and has been ripped off alot. But anyways, we started pulling together the business about a month ago, but he wants to give up before it's even really started. He doesn't have much of a portfolio to show yet, but I am telling him to give it some time and some elbow grease. I am looking for answers that convince him not to give up. Please give good examples of how well your web design business is doing right now? Maybe average pay per job? How well your living doing only this?Convince him not to give up, give up on our marriage as a result and live with his mom playing guitar on street corners for change. It's a long story how this is coming about, but that's not the point...I need positivity I will list our website if asked, I don't want to get accused of just fishing for business, but of course we do need it Things are going downhill fast...

Most informative and cost effective degree to become a freelance web designer?
I'm a senior in high school and I know that I want to become a freelance web designer as a career. I know that most employers expect at least a Bachelor's degree, but if I only do freelance, does it matter what where I got a degree as long as I have the skills and the portfolio ?I'm looking into getting an Associate's degree in web design at Sessions College online check it out here sessions.edu Degrees Associate Web Design Courses.asp . It only costs $18,000, the student work is really impressive, and former and current students seem to love the program. What do you think of this school? Does it seem like it would give me the skills necessary to become a successful freelance web designer? The other place I was considering is Full Sail University online. The have a Bachelor's program in web design and development which somehow only takes 27 months check it out here online.fullsail.edu degrees web design development bachelors . The courses seem to be really intensive and useful, but it costs $75,000. Is it really worth that high price tag?As you can see, I really need some help here. Which of those two colleges do you suggest for me? I know that technically I could be self taught, but I really want an education of some kind.

How can I find a freelance web designer?
I am looking for a web designer with solid PHP and MySQL knowledge to aid in starting a website. Also, I'm looking for someone genuinely interested in building the next big site as a partner, not to be hired. Where could I find someone like this that isn't Craigslist?Although I appreciate your totally assuming and completely unnecessarily rude answer, B, I am actually NOT looking for a slave.I need someone who is interested in building the site WITH me. I understand that they will need to be paid for their time, which is something I am willing to do at the start, but once the site takes off they make money off the site as a partner instead of a hired party.Anyone know a small company or any freelances that would fit this description?
Freelance web designers? How much should i charge? And other tips?
I have been doing freelance web projects for the past year. I have always just told my clients, to pay me what they can, and let me use their website in my resume. I think it is time to take my web designing skills to the next level. So how much should i be charging for my work? Should I charge per hour, or just a flat rate for the sight? I know most web designers charge by the hour, but I am pretty new to this, so I would have a hard time estimating right away how many hours it would take me to build a site.I am very good at html, and css. I have also used little amounts of java scripting and flash in my websites. I am currently learning PHP and some other languages, however if anyone asked me to build a website using intensive scripting I would not feel comfortable enough to build it. My current specialty has been building and designing relatively simple websites, that are super easy to update. I always make sure that the pictures are easily replaceable, and the texts and links are really easy to update. And then i leave them with a manual, of how to update their site. This has gone over very well for me, and has made my clients very happy. I wish to keep offering this type of service... But i just have no idea what to charge..I also have no idea, about the legal side of freelancing. Im sure i have to pay income tax and stuff... so if you are a freelance web designer and would just like to share some general knowledge with me that would be very very much appreciated Thanks
