Using apartment's internet, what is my perceived ip address?
My apartment complex has free internet for all the tenants, basically just plug into any available ethernet jack. My friend has a router connected to the ethernet jack in the wall. I'm using the wifi. Will every single person in the apartment have the same public ip address? as in what the internet sees each of us as? If my neighbor is pirating movies how do law enforcement identify that it's him and not someone else?

Should I be perceived as a Freelance Designer or a Company?
I am a part time freelance Web and Graphic Designer, I currently have a site called riwebsolution.com which is perceived more as a company even though I mention its a one man company, but I also have a website called bdmediapro.com which is my portfolio of work for potential full time employment in the industry until I can work on my own full time.My question is basically when advertising myself to clients should I use my " company" site or my portfolio, it does show the same exact info but the " company" site is more professional as far as saying this is a company and not speaking in the first person. I'm wondering which way is beneficial to potential clients not full time employment with these companies to advertise myself because I know a lot of people automatically think that a " company" might be more expensive or a freelancer might not be professional, etc. Any ideas? Thanks.

To site admin: What is perceived as spam?
If someone supplies a link to the same site as an answer to multiple, consecutive, unrelated questions why is this not considered spam? This may not technically belong in software but it is the category a certain person continually inserts irrelevant links.I did twice but got no result. He's still there I did twice. He's still there. At least one other person needs to rate the person as abusing the site.Possibly no one else cares.

Why is my Patriot Memory Supersonic 32GB USB 3.0 drive perceived as "read only" when used with my Mac?
I am using this drive on a Mac OS X 10.6.8 with an Intel processor. I am concerned because my Mac denies my attempts to move save files to my drive. Is my drive only able to upload when used with a Mac? This has frustrated me for a good fifteen minutes now. There is no damage to this drive, as it is brand new. I would like to move save files to my USB drive. How do I fix this problem, and why is it present?

How do you perceive the distinction between the words "hacker" and "cracker"?
I am confused by the general contradictions 1 When you use the words 'hacker' or 'hacking' in daily life, people will of course understand the act of computer security breaking.2 In the past, the term 'hacker' had nothing to do with what, it was just something like a hobbyist clever programmer who might even write code for something totally irrelevant with any field people usually contribute to hacking today. These are the computer pioneers who are respected.3 Some people tried to make a distinction, saying that the definition on number 2 is what a real 'hacker' is and the security breaker people should be called 'crackers'.4 Because people are still having security breaking and similar illegal computer acts in their mind when the hear the word 'hacking', they perceive number 3 as a distinction between good security breakers and evil security breakers. They still think hacking has to do mostly with specific activities like security breaking or virus spreading or anything cool destructive sounding, the difference for them is that so called 'crackers' are doing it for a bad reason which they define arbitarily, it's subjective . This way they 5 Also, all of them forget that the term 'cracker' is already taken by another programming community of so called software crackers. While their nature is also illegal and their field is considered " hackerish" too, the term 'cracker' here is quite different than number 3 and there can be confusion. While there is a cracking community engaged in software protection cracking there is no such a thing as a 'cracker' or 'cracking scene' as perceived by number 3.So, the final confusing definition is that some 'bad' hackers are called 'crackers' but hacking is still having to do mostly with computer security breaking as perceived by the mass media, but there is no thing as 'cracker' in this definition, because nobody would call himself a 'cracker' in ethics because everyone things he is the good guy and does it for the good reasons. It's a misleading distinction that doesn't wipe out the misconceptions. People will still wrongly believe that security breaking in order to make pranks, seem cool and feel like computer heros, is to be respected. And wrongly assume that it must be the most clever thing in the world and everyone rejecting it must be brainwashed by the mass media. Don't you see the confusion here? When I ask people about that, I get answers that contradict with all these. Even computer literate people tell me the same old story, that " these are not hackers, they are crackers" that does not help with the whole misconception at all. So, how do you perceive these points?
